Alligator spotted

As we all know, Florida is not only the Sunshine state, but also the home to an estimated 1.25 million alligators.

Alligator mating season runs from April through June and the likelihood of spotting an alligator outside of the water moving from one lake to another increases.

Some basic tips:

  • NEVER feed alligators

  • KEEP your distance if you see an alligator

  • NEVER walk a pet near a body of water, even if on a leash, and no matter the size of the pet.

An alligator has been spotted in the lake on numerous occasions. If you are concerned about the alligator, you are welcome to call the Florida Wildlife Commission Nuisance Alligator Hotline as 1-866-392-4286.

Here is some helpful information from the Florida Wildlife Commission website about living with alligators.
